
What is Recycle Mania?

A friendly competition
among college and university recycling programs in the US that provides
campus communities with a universal program to reduce waste
-
A branch of the US
Environmental Protection Agency Waste Wise, The National Recycling
Coalition, and the National Wildlife Federation.

Four sub-competitions:
1.
the largest
amount of recyclables per capita
2.
the largest
amount of total recyclables
3.
the least amount
of trash per capita
4.
the highest
recycling rate.

Seeks to increase student,
faculty and staff awareness of campus recycling and waste minimization. All
participating schools are required to report measurements on a weekly basis
in pounds.
